I've turned into a gardener

A dear friend said to me the other day, "You can tell you're into gardening now because you want it to rain!".

Which was very true indeed. We've just been through a dry spell of some three weeks and I've been using up my water butt supplies keeping my garden (and especially my growing veg) watered. Every night I've watered and watered - quite therapeutic, of course, but still quite a chore when it all has to be done by watering can.

Time was I would be enjoying the warmer spell and dreading any form of precipitation spoiling it. Now though I check the forecasts daily looking to see the legend '30% chance rain' etc. I count the clouds and wish them just that little bit closer.

And yesterday it rained. A lovely all day rain that has helped the ponds, watered my garden and started the process of re-filling my four water butts.

In work people were moaning about the weather and I felt a little guilty at being so happy that it was so wet and it occured to me that I've turned into a gardener.

When did that happen?!
